Tournament Format
In the JP McManus Pro-Am, one Professional will partner three Amateur partners. There are two tournaments running in conjunction with each other.
—
The JP McManus Pro Am Individual
The field of Professionals will compete in a 36 hole stroke play tournament over two days
The JP McManus Pro Am
The teams of four will play in a 36 Pro Am net team event over two days
The format will be a Shamble, (a version of a Texas Scramble) with the following guidelines:
• The lowest single net score returned at each hole will be the team score
• Each amateur player will have “PAR AS YOUR FRIEND”.
i.e. the worst score any player can have on a hole is a net par so to contribute to the team score a player must score a net birdie (or better). If this is not possible then it is recommended to pick up your ball to help with good pace of play and to assist the Professional in their play in the Pro individual event.
• The Professional will select the best tee shot of the whole team at each hole
• All three Amateurs then play their second shot from this position.
• If the selected tee shot is the Professional’s tee shot he will play from here as well, if not he will play from where his tee shot finished.
(The Professional will always play their own ball in the individual professional event).
• From the second shots each player continues and completes the hole with their own ball. If the selected tee shot is on the putting green all players will place their ball within one scorecard length of the position of the selected tee shot, not nearer the hole.
Anywhere else on the course, all players to place their ball within one clublength of the position of the selected tee shot, not nearer the hole.
Note:
If an Amateur player cannot contribute to the team score with a net birdie (or better) they should pick up their ball to help with a good pace of play and help make the Pro Am experience an enjoyable one.
